McDonald’s® Restaurants Across California Kick Off The School Year With Free Breakfast For Students On September 15

BTSPTANewsletterSAN DIEGO – Aug. 19, 2015 – As students prepare for their first day of school, McDonald’s restaurants throughout California are helping kickstart their year with a wholesome breakfast. On Tuesday, Sept. 15, participating restaurants will offer free breakfast, to kindergarten through eighth grade students from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m. Students less than 13 years of age are required to be accompanied by an adult when visiting a participating McDonald’s restaurant. In San Diego, students can enjoy any breakfast sandwich, apple slices and milk.

“A strong source of protein at breakfast delivers the kind of energy students need to focus in the classroom all morning long,” said Bonnie Modugno, MS, RD, consultant for Southern California McDonald’s. “McDonald’s line of breakfast sandwiches served with apples and low-fat milk provide students a great start, which can be a catalyst for eating well throughout the day.”

Students can also enjoy balanced and healthier options at McDonald’s, including the Egg White Delight McMuffin, which features freshly grilled 100% egg whites, extra lean Canadian bacon and white cheddar on an English muffin.

“McDonald’s is strongly committed to the well-being of children, and to mark the beginning of the new school year, we are excited to provide students a free breakfast meal to help them start their day off right,” said Bob Sutherland, McDonald’s owner/operator and president of the San Diego County McDonald’s Owner/Operator’s Association. “At McDonald’s, we support parents in encouraging their children to eat a hearty breakfast every day, and we believe our breakfast muffin sandwiches are a great-tasting option with fresh, wholesome ingredients that children are sure to enjoy.”
